Ham & Cheese Sandwich Roll

Growing up I had an aunt who loved to cook and entertain. Every time I came for a visit  there was a guarantee that within 30 minutes there will be either meal or snacks in front of you.

Nothing fancy and hard, but simple and cute. You almost didn’t want to eat it…..if it wasn’t so delicious.

I remember my aunt making this  Ham & Cheese Roll for special occasions. It was one of my favorite cold appetizers…… It was simple….. layers of ham, cheese, other cold cuts, special sour cream mixture and sometimes hard boiled eggs rolled into a tight roll.

If you read my blog regularly you know that my two boys are meat and cheese lovers……and being a HOT

summer….which means getting tired or boring sandwiches I decided to whip up one of my own

SANDWICH ROLLSto shake things up…..What Do You Think?

I decided to add a layer of white toast bread to make it bigger and more sandwich like. It worked out great.

Ingredients:
  • 12 – 4″x4″ Thin Slices of Edam, Mozzarella or Provolone Cheese
  • 9 Slices White or Whole Wheat Sandwich Bread (crust off)
  • 9 Thin Slices of Cooked Ham
  • 100g Salami of your choice (or more ham)
  • Cream Cheese
  • Garden Vegetable Cream Cheese Spread
  • Red Pepper Jelly
STEP 1: Start with a  layer of plastic wrap about 15″ long.

STEP 2: Make a layer of cheese with 4 pieces per row. Make sure each piece is overlapping by 2″.

STEP 3: Gently spread cream cheese over the layer of  hard cheese so it covers the entire layer.

STEP 4: Place a layer of cooked ham on top of the cream cheese.

STEP 5: The next layer is sandwich bread without crust.

STEP 6: Spread more cream cheese over the layer of sandwich bread.

STEP 7: Next layer is layer of salami followed by layer of garden vegetable cream cheese and very thin layer of red pepper jelly.

STEP 8: Grab the bottom of the plastic wrap and tightly wrap it all together making a roll or a log.

STEP 9: Let it sit in a fridge for overnight or at least 12 hours.

STEP 10: When you are ready to serve the sandwich roll unwrap it and cut into 1″ sliced. Serve with fresh vegetables.

Tip: You don’t need to use the same ingredients as me. Be creative and have fun with it!
