| Baked Basa Fillets with Garlic & Almonds |
Recently I was talked into buying Basa Fillets….by a complete stranger in a supermarket….
He went on….and….on…..and…..on about them. Apparently Basa fillets make the most delicious Fish & Chips.
What the heck….I grabbed two bags…
I made a beautiful and yummy looking Breaded Basa Fillets for my children…..one bite and you could hear the crickets chirp….a reaction I am not used to.
After taking few bites myself I decided…..NOPE…..not the best Fried Fish I ever had….
Since I had another bag to deal with I decided to actually do the research and find out what is BASA fish.
…..apparently Basa fish is from the same family as Craw fish….I didn’t know that….did you?
Then I proceeded to look for recipe on how to make Basa fish taste good….majority recipes suggested to bake it….so I did.
I came up with a winning recipe for Baked Basa Fillets with Garlic Butter & Almonds…..it was DELICIOUS…no complains about this dish.
Ingredients:
- 4 Large Basa Fillets
- 4 Tbsp Butter (melted)
- 4 Cloves Garlic (chopped)
- 1/4 cup Slivered Almonds
- Salt
- Pepper
- Fresh Parsley (chopped)
- 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
STEP 1: Preheat oven to 400F.
STEP 2: Place clean and dry Basa fillets into baking dish
STEP 3: In a small bowl combine melted butter, chopped garlic, salt and pepper. Pour over Basa fillets.
STEP 4: Sprinkle slivered almonds all over the fish and cover the baking dish.
STEP 5: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until fish is flaky.
STEP 6: Take out of the oven. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and lemon juice. Cover and let it sit for 5 minutes before serving.
STEP 7: Serve over rice and pour juice from the baking dish all over the fish when serving.
Did you ever make a dish using Basa fish? How did it turn out?
