Espresso Cookies



Last Friday I stopped for a visit & a virtual mug of java @ my new friend Paloma’s blog called THE COFFEE SHOP

I was not aware that every Friday is Coffee Friday blog hop @ The Coffee Shop…..unfortunately I had nothing to bring to the party……I did promise Paloma that I will not come empty handed next Friday….I shall bring some virtual COOKIES with me that will go well with her virtual coffee…..

….and I always keep my promise so today I am sharing my ESPRESSO COOKIES and linking them up to COFFEE Friday @ Paloma’s….




I was given recipe for these ESPRESSO Cookies from my aunt many years ago….I love to serve them at dinner parties with coffee or hot chocolate…..I think their richness & burst of CHOCOLATE & Coffee flavor makes them the perfect end after satisfying meal…..





  • 1 3/4 cup Flour
  • 1/2 cup Cocoa Powder
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter (softened)
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 2 tsp Espresso Coffee
  • 2 Pkg  Dr. Oetker Vanilla Sugar

STEP 1: Preheat oven to 350F.

STEP 2: In a large bowl beat together butter, powdered sugar and vanilla sugar.

STEP 3: In another bowl whisk together flour, cocoa and espresso coffee. Mix it gently into the butter and sugar mixture. You will have thick chocolate dough.

STEP 4: Divided the cookie dough in half. On lightly  floured surface roll each half into a 1,5″ thick log.

STEP 5: Cut the logs into 1″ pieces. Roll each piece into a ball. Place the balls on ungreased cookie sheet 2″ apart

STEP 6: Gently flatten the cookie balls with fork (like peanut butter cookies).

Bake for 18 minutes.

STEP 8: Let the cookies cool down on the cookie sheet for 2 minutes before moving them onto wire racks. Dust with powdered sugar.


This recipe makes about 3 dozen of Espresso Cookies.
