Orange Cupcakes with Orange Frosting









  • 2 1/2 cups Flour
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 Tbsp Grated Orange Zest
  • 2 tsp Orange Extract
  • 3/4 cup Apple Sauce (unsweetened)  (if you don’t have it use oil)
  • 1 cup Buttermilk

STEP 1: Preheat oven to 350F. Line 24 muffin cups with cupcake liners.

STEP 2: In a bowl beat together sugar, eggs, orange zest and orange extract. Beat in apple sauce and buttermilk until blended.

STEP 3: In another bowl whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Slowly beat in flour mixture into wet mixture.

STEP 4: Pour 1/4 cup of cupcake batter into each lined muffin cup. Bake for 25-28 minutes or until done.

STEP 5: Cool completely on wire rack before frosting.



Orange Cupcakes with Orange Frosting




  • 8 oz Cream Cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup Butter (softened & unsalted)
  • 1 tsp Orange Extract or Orange Liqueur
  • 2 cups Icing Sugar

STEP 1: Beat together cream cheese, butter and extract until smooth and fluffy.

STEP 2: On low speed beat in icing sugar until frosting consistency.

STEP 3: Fill pastry bag with orange filling and chill in the fridge until cool.

STEP 4: Pipe onto completely cool cupcakes and decorate as you wish.


Tip: You can also add drop of orange food coloring into frosting.
