Miradoro @ Tinhorn Creek

Everybody has their favorite restaurant in their neighbourhood….

….me being the restaurant aficionado I have couple…..

One I have been visiting for last 16 years….and one I started frequenting since last summer….

Both very different….both top notch…..and ALWAYS…..always…..pretty near perfect.

My last summer discovery is MIRADORO & Tinhorn Creek Winery in my home town of Oliver.

Tinhorn Creek Winery is well known winery that produces award-winning wines….WINERY that farms their own vineyards using sustainable practices.

I enjoy many fine wines from Tinhorn Creek so when they announced opening of their restaurant MIRADORO I grabbed my best friend and treated her to dinner at MIRADORO….hoping for not being disappointed…..

When we arrived  I was immediately impressed with the location…..view and architecture of Miradoro.

Within few minutes of being seated on their gorgeous patio overlooking the Okanagan Valley our waitress welcomed us by offering complimentary sparkling water…… part of the restaurant’s Vivreau Water Service

“In keeping with Tinhorn Creek Winery’s sustainable philosophies, Miradoro Restaurant proudly
serves Vivreau Filtered Water. We offer this pure and ecologically sustainable bottled water
complimentary to our dining guests. Thank you for helping us reduce our carbon footprint by
eliminating the need to ship water.”

During the entire meal service there was always bottle of fresh sparkling water on our table and our glasses were always full….I was very impressed!

Right after the drinks basket of fresh Focaccia and olive oil & vinegar for dipping appeared……

…. We devoured our foccacia it was to die for and it was immediately replaced by another basket…

While we were enjoying our foccacia and trying to narrow down our food choices Miradoro restaurant sommelier/general manager walked by to welcome us…..and….help us with  wine selection to compliment our dinner.

One thing I was really impressed with….MIRADORO serves ever changing Market Cuisine Menu inspired by cuisine of Italy, Spain and Portugal….

All dishes are rustic….simple….yet sophisticated…using fresh local ingredients in season…..

We started our dinner by sharing SALAD of Local Greens, Spiced Almonds, Goat Gruyere, Caramelized Honey & Sherry Vinaigrette……

….big mistake…..after the first bite I wanted to eat it all by myself…..the subtle heat from the spiced almonds mixed with sweetness of caramelized honey and sharpness of  goat Gruyere…….

….I still have dreams about this salad….

For our main course  my best friend chose……Lamb Ragout with Orecchiette, Truffle & Sweet Peas…..

ORRECCHIETTE were done to perfection….Al Dente….all the way…..the lamb was succulent and juicy….the truffle and sweet peas complimented the dish perfectly…..

I couldn’t wait to try…….Fraser Valley Pork, Prosciutto & Mint Risotto, Beets, Whey

My pork was….juicy….lean…full of flavor and to my satisfaction each medallion had little rim of crunchy-caramelized fat around it…just the way I like it….

Mint Risotto….symphony in my mouth…..CREAMY…..not mushy….fresh chunks of mint…..can this dish get any better?….Oh, yes…it sure can… with chunks of warm grilled beets and little sprouts of whey…..

After this amazing meal we had to take few minutes of rest…..before we were ready for dessert….

….there was NO WAY I was missing out on dessert……

We ordered two desserts to share…..Walnut and Chocolate Ganache Tart……and……Olive Oil & Hazelnut Cake with Pistachio Gelato wrapped in Fruit Ribbon, Praline and Lemon Curd

Both desserts were delicious…..but to be honest…..being a pastry  & dessert person I was not overly impressed…..especially since they are charging $11.00 for each dessert……I was expecting something of higher caliber…..

….after the salad….main meal and service…..DESSERT was a bit of a let down for me….personally!

….with that said….I have been going to MIRADORO for over a year now and I always receive first class service and orgasmic meal…..

….I do skip the dessert…..

….so when your travels take you to my little town of Oliver – also known as the Wine Capital of Canada….make sure you stop at TINHORN CREEK Winery to taste some of their award-winning wines and do not skip the opportunity to have a meal at MIRADORO

At  Miradoro expect to spend more then you would having dinner or lunch in majority of South Okanagan restaurants….., but you can also expect first class service that matches its first class meal and experienced staff……

….that to me is worth the occasional trip up to hill to Tinhorn Creek Winery and Miradoro restaurant….

Don’t forget….Keep Smiling….Keep Cooking!

That looks like a lovely place! Reminds me of the Tapas and Wine bar I went to in Mumbai recently. :)

I absolutely love wine and would relish the opportunity to visit a winery. It is such a great idea for a winery to expand into its own restaurant and I am glad that you have been enjoying Miradoro. The images of your meals look absolutely amazing, but I can definitely understand why you skip dessert. The salads and main dishes are incredibly impressive, but the desserts look simple and one note.
