Festival of the Grape 2012

Calling all wine lovers!

Today I want to share with you photos I took this weekend during annual FESTIVAL OF THE GRAPE in my hometown of Oliver, British Columbia.

If you are a true WINE lover you know that our little town with 5,000 residents is also called WINE CAPITAL OF CANADA…..and rightly so.

As of today Oliver has over 30 wineries and many of them are producers of world class award winning wines…..

I don’t want to be a name dropper or anything……Hester Creek……Gehringer Brothers……Tinhorn Creek…..Jackson-Triggs……Black Hills…Inniskillin…..all my neighbors…..

Since 1997 Oliver celebrates our grapes & wines in one day festival…..Festival of the Grape.

Festival of the Grape is not only for wine lovers and wine enthusiasts… is a huge family fun event filled with top notch entertainment…..famous grape stomp…. always popular and sinful fair food.

Since 1997 Festival of the Grape grew from 10-12 local wineries showcase event to this year’s over 50 wineries (200 different wines) wine festival.

….and of course vendors selling and showcasing everything from organic cheese….preserves…flavored vinegars…crafts….art….cosmetics…..handcrafted clothing……

As every year I packed up the boys and we headed to Festival of the Grape……the only difference was that Hormone Boy was actually volunteering this year at the Kids Zone so Twitch was hanging with his big brother and mommy got to hang with her own friends and taste some world class wine…..and of course take some pictures…

  1. Looks like you had a great day there with great weather. It is also nice to see a grape/wine event that isn’t all about wine but also family food and fun. All we have this week is the National Potato Week. Want to swap?

because as I was reading and going through it, alls I could think about was how much I wanted to be there, how much fun I missed out on, and how much I want to go to a grape festival to celebrate with the wineries ;)
