Halloween Gooey Praline Popcorn

Halloween Gooey Praline Popcorn

Shadows of a thousand years rise again unseen,
Voices whisper in the trees, “Tonight is Halloween!”
~  Dexter Kozen ~

Good morning to all ghosts and goblins…..it is here….the day my children were waiting for….HALLOWEEN….

Twitch has been waiting to go trick -or – treating and wearing a costume…..

….Hormone Boy has been waiting to scare children in a Haunted House him and his classmates  were building for last three weeks as a community project through their leadership course.

…two boys…two completely different agendas….

The only thing they could agree on this Halloween morning was……how “freaking awesome” was Halloween Gooey Praline Popcorn I just made for tonight.

….I’ll take it…..and fyi…..the Praline Popcorn is highly addictive….and so easy to make.

Halloween Gooey Praline Popcorn

Ingredients:

  • 3 Bags of Popped Popcorn (regular no flavor)
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Corn Syrup
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 2 Tbsp Water
  • 1/2 cup Praline Mixed Nuts
  • 1/2 cup Candy Corn
  • 1 cup Mini Marshmallows
  • Yellow Food Coloring

STEP 1: Preheat oven to 200F. Line 2 jelly roll sheets.

STEP 2: In a saucepan bring to simmer over medium heat brown sugar, corn syrup, butter and water. While stirring bring to boil and let it boil for 2-3 minutes.

STEP 3: Meanwhile pour all popcorn into large butter coated bowl. Make sure you remove all unpopped kernels.

STEP 4: Pour caramel sauce over popcorn and mix it all together until well coated (don’t use your hand – I learned that “dah lesson”)

STEP 5: Spread coated popcorn evenly over jelly roll sheet and bake for 45 minutes. Turn the popcorn using spatula every 15 minutes.

STEP 6: After 45 minutes remove from the oven. Top with marshmallow coasted with yellow food coloring and candy corn. Place in the oven for another 10 minutes.

STEP 7: Remove from oven. Stir around a bit to make little gooey clusters. Let it cool and serve.

I like to bring a large bowl of Halloween Gooey Praline Popcorn to my son’s class party and it is gone in minutes.

My best friend’s hubby is turning 40 today…..yes, a Halloween baby……and yes, he is strange, but we love him anyway…..

….last weekend we threw him a surprise party and I included my  Halloween Gooey Praline Popcorn on the Sweet Table and it was a huge hit amongst the grown up crowd as well.

Happy Halloween to all of you…..and keep your little ones safe!

Don’t forget….Keep Smiling….Keep Cooking!

  3. Love your little cauldrons. I have a big plastic cauldron that I loaded up with candy for trick-or-treaters. Two weeks ago. Needless to say, trick-or-treaters got nothing but the Sweet Tarts that were left after me and my fiance’s two weeks of binge candy eating. Your popcorn looks delicious!

    That popcorn looks so yummy!

I am sorry I didn’t get to enjoy the trick-or-treaters this year and feel bad that Lukus didn’t get to dress up (yes at 30 that is still his favorite part!).

That looks yummy!! Though I tend to prefer plain salted popcorn, I think I’m going to give this a try the next time I pop some.
