“Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn’t it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up.”
~ Neil Gaiman ~
Happy Friday, everyone!
We are officially in the second half of 14 Days of Valentine’s Day …… welcome to DAY 8.
So far we have been making delicious ….. romantic …. heart shaped desserts.
We have been talking about aphrodisiac foods ….
….. today it’s time for special Valentine’s Day drink ….. kids friendly Valentine’s Day drink ….. RASPBERRY ITALIAN CREAM SODA ….
Italian Sodas or Italian Cream Sodas became very popular in coffee houses last few year ….. especially with kids & young adults ….
…. my boys love ITALIAN CREAM SODA ….. and I often use it as a substitute when they ask for SLURPEE ( I think those things should be banned) ….. especially since some coffee houses carry few sugar-free options.
So what is the difference between Italian Soda & Italian Cream Soda?
ITALIAN SODA is made by mixing 2oz of flavored Italian syrup like TORANI (syrup of my choice) with 8oz of sparkling water like San Pellegrino over ice.
ITALIAN CREAM SODA is made by adding splash of cream to regular Italian soda and topped with whipped cream (optional).
The best part …… you can make your own Italian Sodas at home ….. you can mix & match flavors ….. you can make your own signature flavor.
My family loves RASPBERRY ITALIAN CREAM SODA …. and since my oldest son is diabetic I always have a bottle of Torani Raspberry Sugar Free Syrup in my pantry for special occasions like Valentine’s Day or just little pick me up when my boys feel blue.
- 2oz Torani Raspberry Sugar Free Syrup
- 8 oz San Pellegrino Mineral Water
- 1-2 Tbsp Half & Half
- Whipped Cream
- Maraschino Cherry
