Good morning, fellow food lovers!
It’s second day of two week Spring break ….
… yesterday was a lazy day …. I let the boys to lay around in their pj’s …. playing their computers ….
… today is a day to get up …. get out & have some Spring fun in the sun …. & maybe do some yard work for mom.
Yesterday Hormone Boy announced that he has a “hankering” for some BEEF TACOS …. & it would be nice if I can satisfy his cravings.
I know my kids …. I knew this day was coming when I bought OLD EL PASO Taco Seasoning Mix last week.
Yeah, I bought the Taco mix, but I forgot to buy the tortillas …. oops!
Luckily, I always have few whole wheat Pita Breads in my freezer so I had to improvise ….. & FLATBREAD TACO PIZZA was born.
This recipe serves 4.
Ingredients:
- 4 Whole Wheat Pita Breads
- 1 lbs Lean Ground Beef or Turkey
- 1 pkg Old El Paso 40% Less Sodium Taco Seasoning Mix
- Sour Cream
- Salsa
- Iceberg Lettuce (shredded)
- 1 cup Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
STEP 1: In a skillet brown beef or turkey. Add taco mix & prepare according to the directions on the package.
STEP 2: Preheat oven to 350F.
STEP 3: Place pita breads on a cookie sheet. Divide beef taco mixture evenly between pita breads. Top with shredded Cheddar. Bake for 10 minutes or until cheese is completely melted.
STEP 4: Remove pitas from the oven. Place onto individual plates. Top with sour cream, salsa & shredded lettuce. Serve.
I must admit ….. FLATBREAD TACO PIZZA was a nice change from regular Beef Tacos & I actually like it much better.
Boys enjoyed it as well, but Hormone Boy still prefers Crunchy Tacos.
Don’t forget …. Keep Smiling …. Keep Cooking!
