Sour Cream Apple Cake with Walnuts

“Love has no desire but to fulfill itself.  To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.  To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving.”

~ Kahlil Gibran ~

Sour Cream Apple Cake

Good morning, sweet friends!

It’s 10 more days to Valentine’s Day ….. it’s also Day 2 of 14 Days of Valentine’s Day on my Facebook page

…. 14 days of LOVE ….. sweet recipes …. ROMANCE …. Valentine’s day ideas ….

I know there are skeptics out there that don’t believe in LOVE …. romance …. relationship …..

…. to them I say:  “we all need to love something or someone to survive”

As Oscar Wilde once said: Who, being loved is poor?”

When it comes to LOVE ….. I love to show it in many ways ….. one way is baking for my family & friends.

So, since I LOVE you, my sweet friends, but can’t bake for you I will share with you a special recipe for SOUR CREAM APPLE CAKE with WALNUTS that a dear friend of mine shared with me many, many years ago.

This SOUR CREAM APPLE CAKE is moist , crunchy & sweet & over the years became one of the favorite cake of my loved ones…..

….. especially when I serve it with big scoop of ice cream.

  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 cups Apples (peeled and chopped)

STEP 1: Preheat oven to 350F.

STEP 2: In a large bowl combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in the butter and mix until crumbly. Stir in nuts.

STEP 3: Take 2 3/4cup of the mixture and press it into 9 x 13″ pan to make the bottom crust.

STEP 4: To the leftover mixture add cinnamon, baking soda, salt, sour cream, vanilla and egg. Mix it well. Stir in apples and spread the mixture over the crust.

STEP 5: Bake for about 30 minutes.

Tip: Sometimes when I want to make it extra special I frost the SOUR CREAM APPLE CAKE with Caramel Frosting and sprinkle with roasted walnuts.

Don’t forget …. Keep Smiling …. Keep Cooking!
